I am all for asexual representation. If that’s the direction they wanted to go in, I think it needs to be clearer.

For the level of romantic symbolism they inferred in this text, intended or no, it felt like queerbaiting to me. I would have preferred something more direct in either the romantic or aromantic direction.

The history of queerbaiting in film and television makes me hesitant to give a project the benefit of the doubt — though, as an avid Gaiman Tumblr follower, I do not doubt his progressive credentials.
