With articles, I think a better example would be two people talking about the Sixth Sense, and someone new stumbles into the convo and says "Don't say anything. I haven't seen it." In that case, the new person is the one being rude.
That's my perspective on it with the Internet. A lot of people are entering conversations about a topic and getting mad to learn something they chose to learn about. I think if they want Spoiler Free reviews they can seek that out. I am going to respect people's preferences to a point. I am not someone who posts spoilers on Twitter or Facebook or whatever.
However, I overwhelmingly don't post spoiler warnings for my articles, and I don't like the expectation some have that "no spoilers" are a right. From my perspective, it's a very consumer-driven mindset.
We can agree to disagree on this, and that's fine. I respect your point of view, even if we don't see eye to eye.
